Taif Ziyarat Places You Will Visit
Masjid Abdullah ibn Abbas
This mosque stands in the centre of Taif. It is named after Abdullah ibn Abbas, a cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and a great scholar of the Quran. He spent his last years in Taif and is buried beside the mosque.
Masjid Addas
According to the seerah, Addas, a young Christian servant from Nineveh, offered the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) a plate of grapes after the people of Taif turned him away, and accepted Islam. The mosque is built at that place.
Masjid Ali
A small old mosque named after Ali ibn Abi Talib. It is visited on the same route as the other ziyarat places.
The Al Hada road
The road climbs in tight hairpin bends to about 2,000 metres. Viewpoints look back over the plains towards Makkah, and baboons often sit by the road. Please don’t feed them.
The miqat (Qarn al-Manazil)
This is the miqat for travellers coming from Taif. Its mosques are at As-Sayl al-Kabir and at Wadi Mahram on the Al Hada road. On the way back to Makkah, the driver stops here for 30–40 minutes so you can make wudu, change into ihram and pray two rak’ahs if you plan a new Umrah.
If you also want Al Shafa, the Al Hada cable car and the rose farms, our full-day Makkah to Taif taxi adds them to the same trip.
