Guide for UK Pilgrims

Flights from London, Manchester and Birmingham

From London you can fly non-stop to Jeddah. From Manchester, Birmingham and other UK airports most pilgrims connect through a hub such as Istanbul, Dubai or Doha and land in Jeddah or Madinah. Saudi Arabia is 3 hours ahead of the UK in winter and 2 hours ahead in summer, so send us your arrival time in Saudi time with your flight number.

Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah Umrah Transport in One Booking

Most UK families need three transfers: Jeddah Airport to Makkah, Makkah to Madinah, and Madinah back to Jeddah Airport or Madinah Airport. You can book all three in one WhatsApp chat, with the same fixed prices and the same car size for the whole family. See the full route on our Jeddah Airport to Makkah taxi page.

Umrah Packages, School Holidays and Visas

Many UK Umrah packages include a shared coach. If you would rather travel privately, book only the transfers you need. School holidays, Christmas and Ramadan are the busiest times, so book early. British passport holders can usually use the Saudi tourist eVisa for Umrah; check the current rules on the official Saudi visa website before you book flights.

Ihram, Miqat and Madinah First

If you fly to Jeddah, you enter ihram before the plane passes the miqat; if you connect through a hub, many pilgrims change before the last flight. If you go to Madinah first, you enter ihram at Abyar Ali (Dhul Hulayfah) on the way to Makkah. On every Madinah to Makkah taxi the driver stops there for 30–40 minutes.
